The Festival of India in Paris

Ratha Yatra in Paris Jagannataha Baladeva

About This Project

In June the festival of India was celebrated in Paris, and also the original annual Ratha Yatra took place in Jagannatha Puri, India. Here is my little artwork dedicated to the occasion. Jagannatha, a form of Lord Krishna, along with His elder brother Balarama and younger sister Subhadra ascends colorful chariots once every year to head our for a festive parade, accompanied by hundreds or thousands of devotees chanting and dancing. The festival represents the inhabitants of Vrindavana bringing Krishna back to their village, after He had stayed away in Dvaraka for many years. Painting inspired by Pattachitra style.
